DreamWorks Animation is three for three with the Shrek movies! We went to the ASIFA Hollywood screening of Shrek the Third this evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Syd sat through most of it which is an accomplishment in and of itself. The film has a nice character driven story that struck a good balance of the charm and heart that stood out in the first and the comedy from the second. Being the third film out in a series that has been so successful it had the real potential to let down but thankfully they took the time to get it right. Seeing as so many animated films have tried to emulate the first two films success with pop culture references and gags the filmmakers wisely chose not to focus on them in this outing and I think it benefited the film greatly. The animation was top notch and the overall production design looked great. Kudos to DWA for knocking this one out of the park. I have a feeling this this one will be a great success for them, and rightly so...
