Blu-ray has landed in the Mulholland household!!

After so much harassment and begging my wife broke down and bought me a PS3 for Easter. I feel a bit bad but I have been buggin' her about getting one since last fall. I saw the writing on the wall in the format war even then and have known that Blu-ray was the direction I wanted to go when I got in. I stopped buying DVDs all together a while ago and the desire to buy new movies was killing me. I eventually started buying Blu-ray movies even though I didn't have a player. The nice thing though is now that I have a player I have a little collection to start watching right away! The Blu-ray for Blade Runner is amazing and that film is quickly becoming a favorite for me.

I have never owned a Playstation in the past. I have always been more of a Nintendo person when it comes to Video Games. To me it's all about the games and Nintendo is where it's at for me when I think about great games. We have a Wii and I imagine that it will stay our primary gaming platform, not that we play a lot nowadays. The PS3 is really for Blu-ray for us. It's great. The interface is very beautiful and intuitive. The great thing about it is that it's the best Blu-ray player out there on the market right now and given how beefy the hardware is it's pretty future proof. In fact, I just updated the system last night to make it a profile 2.0 player! I am very pleased with it and look forward to growing my Blu-ray collection. Some of the upcoming titles that I am looking forward to picking up include Alvin and the Chipmunks (I have to), I, Robot, Batman Begins, and Batman: Gotham Knight. I am holding out for a special edition of Casino Royale and given the recent announcement it's looking possible. (Sony, Please don't ignore the Blu-ray crowd with this re-release) Okay, enough of me geeking out on movies...

I clicked on Philip Glass on my blog profile (he's in my favorite music listing) and the next profile that came up was yours.

I feel an affinity towards people with passion in arts and life in general...without them two, what else is there to live for? =)

That's exciting, Shane. I've actually just begun selling off most of my DVDs to help finance an HDTV, and, eventually, a Blu-Ray player.

I remember, probably back in 2000, buying my first DVD when I didn't even have a DVD player yet.

I must admit that it is nice! I like that we are able to watch the Blu-Ray movies now and I look forward to having a HDTV to be able to really enjoy them....that is neither a promise or a start to a conversation though. ;) I am just glad that you are happy!
