Northern California May 2007

... a few weeks late. I apologize for the delay. The week before I started at Rhythm & Hues we took a trip up to northern California to visit some friends. What follows is a little record of our little vacation.

Here is the view out the back of the house we stayed at for the week. It was so beautiful.

Family photo.

Self Portrait.

One of the vineyards that our friend manages...

Talking to Syd about the Grapes.

I take back everything bad I have ever said about Guitar Hero. Until that week I had never actually played it and I thought people looked silly playing it. Well turns out you, and I now, still look silly but it is a LOT of fun to play.

Heading across the world famous Golden Gate Bridge.

My girls in the Boudin Bread Factory/Store/Restaurant...

...and on the Pier.

The Letterman Digital Arts Center at the Presidio. Absolutely beautiful! This is where ILM is located. Needless to say, I would love to work here someday.

Bronze statue of Eadweard Muybridge the "Father of Cinema" at ILM.

On Saturday of that week I went to Star Wars Celebration IV, a Star Wars convention that was held for the first time in LA.

Getting our badges on-site for Celebration.

Bronze Vader. Awesome. One of the many cool things at the show.

Showing a little of my dark force abilities.

Lastly we finally saw The Queen on that Sunday night. I actually like the film a lot. It was nicely paced, handled it's subject matter with grace, and it was entertaining and informative. I found my self wanting to know more about the monarchy and how it functions in modern society. It was certainly better than The Departed, which it lost to for best picture. And the more and more I see films from last year that I couldn't make it to the Theaters to see then the more that The Departed's win disappoints me.

At ILM? I decided not to post it... it was cool but actually I was more impressed that they had the Muybridge one. It's not a connection I've thought about before, but the more I thought about it after we left the more I really liked it.
