Virgin Galatic, the new company founded by billionaire Sir Richard Branson, will begin commercial flights into suborbital space in late 2008. A spaceport will be built in New Mexico to launch the fleet of 5 ships which will be patterned after the groundbreaking SpaceShipOne. In June 2004 SpaceShipOne made the first privately funded human spaceflight. This is so awesome!! I am sure that the price will be prohibitively expensive for most at first but the price will come down eventually, I hope. They already have 38,000 people from 126 countries that have paid a deposit for a seat on the planned flights! I honestly thought this sort of thing wouldn't happen until I was 40, but here it is a few years away!! They will call the new site the Southwestern Regional Spaceport.
